Microsoft Word offers many options to change how your document looks on the page. You can adjust the page orientation, size, and margins to fit your needs.
Page Orientation
Page orientation controls the direction of your document. There are two options:
- Portrait (vertical)
- Landscape (horizontal)
To change the orientation:
- Go to the Layout tab.
- Click the Orientation button.
- Choose Portrait or Landscape from the menu.
Page Size
By default, Word sets the page size to 8.5 x 11 inches. You can change it to other standard sizes or set a custom size.
To change the page size:
- Open the Layout tab.
- Click the Size button.
- Select a predefined size from the menu.
To set a custom page size:
- Click Size in the Layout tab.
- Select More Paper Sizes from the menu.
- Enter the Width and Height in the Page Setup box.
- Click OK to apply changes.
Page Margins
Margins control the space between text and the edges of the page. The default margin setting is Normal (1-inch on all sides). You can choose different margin settings or set a custom margin.
To change margins:
- Open the Layout tab.
- Click the Margins button.
- Choose a margin option from the menu.
To set custom margins:
- Click Margins in the Layout tab.
- Select Custom Margins from the menu.
- Enter margin values in the Page Setup box.
- Click OK to apply changes.
You can also save these settings for future documents using the Set as Default option.
