Formatted text helps highlight key parts of a document. In Microsoft Word, you can adjust text in several ways:
Changing Font Size:
- Select the text you want to modify.
- Go to the Home tab.
- Click the Font Size drop-down arrow.
- Choose your desired size.
If the size isn't listed, type it in and press Enter. Alternatively, use the Grow Font or Shrink Font buttons to adjust the size incrementally.
Changing the Font:
- Select your text.
- On the Home tab, click the Font drop-down arrow.
- Pick a font style.
For readability, especially in professional documents, consider fonts like Calibri, Cambria, Times New Roman, or Arial.
Changing Font Color:
- Highlight the text.
- Navigate to the Home tab.
- Click the Font Color drop-down arrow.
- Select a color.
For more options, choose More Colors to access the Colors dialog box.
Using Bold, Italic, and Underline:
- Select the text.
- On the Home tab, click Bold (B), Italic (I), or Underline (U).
These features emphasize important words or phrases.
Changing Text Case:
- Highlight the text.
- Go to the Home tab.
- Click the Change Case button.
- Choose from options like UPPERCASE, lowercase, or Capitalize Each Word.
This tool lets you adjust the capitalization without retyping.
Highlighting Text:
- Select the text.
- On the Home tab, click the Text Highlight Color drop-down arrow.
- Pick a highlight color.
To remove highlighting, select the text again and choose No Color.
Changing Text Alignment:
- Select the text.
- Navigate to the Home tab.
- In the Paragraph group, select an alignment option:
- Align Text Left
- Center
- Align Text Right
- Justify
Adjusting alignment changes how text appears between the margins.
By mastering these formatting tools, you can create clear and engaging documents in Word.
