In Excel, text alignment refers to how the content is positioned within a cell. By default, text aligns to the bottom-left of the cell, and numbers align to the bottom-right. You can change this alignment to improve the readability of your worksheet.
Types of Alignment:
- Left Align: Moves content to the left side of the cell.
- Center Align: Centers content equally between the left and right borders of the cell.
- Right Align: Moves content to the right side of the cell.
- Top Align: Moves content to the top of the cell.
- Middle Align: Centers content equally between the top and bottom of the cell.
- Bottom Align: Moves content to the bottom of the cell.
How to Change Horizontal Alignment:
- Select the cell(s) you want to modify.
- Click one of the three horizontal alignment options on the Home tab.
- The content will realign as chosen. For example, selecting "Center Align" will center the text.
How to Change Vertical Alignment:
- Select the cell(s) you want to modify.
- Click one of the three vertical alignment options on the Home tab.
- The content will realign as chosen. For example, selecting "Middle Align" will center the text vertically.
You can apply both vertical and horizontal alignment to any cell to make your data look neat and organized.
